Biography

Victor Brown, IBM Distinguished Engineer with IBM Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) US Federal and Public Sector. He is the CTO Architect responsible for developing and supporting complex architectures within the U.S. Department of Defence as well as other customers. He has over 30 years of experience in information technology and architecture including hardware/software development, product management, analytics and government cloud solutions. He has also developed requirements and architectures to allow cloud technologies to run in restricted environments that don’t have external internet connectivity. He is known throughout IBM and industry as an expert in regulated large scale collaboration systems, collaboration protocols, the FAA's next generation (NextGen) air traffic control system, next generation cloud, hybrid cloud solutions, multi cloud solutions, Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Paks, cognitive solutions, quantum computing and U.S. DoD requirements. Mr. Brown works extensively with IBM teams on product futures and IBM Research on the application of future technologies. Mr. Brown is a member of the prestigious IBM Academy of Technology. Externally he works hard as an IBM University Ambassador for Norfolk State and Hampton Universities. In addition, he is a Black Engineer of the Year Alumni receiving a “Modern Day Technology Leader” award in 2005 and he represents IBM on the Batten Institute’s Global Innovators’ Roundtable which brings together senior innovation executives from leading companies for conversations facilitated by University of Virginia’s Darden’s school of business top scholars in innovation.
