ABSTRACT
MANET IP Mesh Technology offers huge benefit to the dismounted soldier. Infrastructure-free, self-forming and self-healing, a well-chosen MANET solution can provide resilient high bandwidth “plug and go” communications even in a hostile or contested RF environment.
Leveraging our background in COFDM transmission systems for digital television, Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has led the evolution of MANET Mesh technology. Based on a flexible software defined radio architecture and our MeshUltra™ family of Tactical COFDM waveforms, DTC MANET Mesh solutions are widely deployed in Warfighter communications systems, Military and civilian UxVs as well as a range of related applications in the Law Enforcement, Industrial and Broadcast sectors.
MANET Technology is evolving fast to deliver larger networks, higher data rates and greater resistance to jamming and interference. Key to this continuing evolution will be the incorporation of Cognitive Radio capabilities including “every radio a sensor” spectrum sensing and machine learning which allow the network to adapt based on a changing RF environment or evolving mission requirements. DTC’s MeshUltra™ Interference Avoidance System (IAS) is an example of a baseline Cognitive Radio capability – able to automatically co-ordinate shifts in network frequency based on live spectrum information from every radio in the network.
DTC is part of Codan Communications, an Australian-based and ASX traded public company, headquartered in Adelaide and with many years of experience of developing and manufacturing Tactical wireless communications systems in Australia. As such we are ideally placed to deliver and support Sovereign MANET and mixed technology wireless solutions for the Australian Defence Force.
