ABSTRACT
There are inherent challenges in maintaining a defence data and information advantage in the current global defence security environment. The presentation contends that not only are our cyber security vulnerabilities increasing through digital transformation and remote working, but our adversaries are behaving more asymmetrically to exploit these opportunities: scaling rapidly, applying increasingly sophisticated threat vectors and co-ordinating more closely; especially against frameworks built pre-COVID and Cloud.
The Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill 2020 may force many to tighten protocols in the face of the increased threat profile but in the interim, organisations should consider reviewing their risk profile as threat prevalence and complexity increases.
BIOGRAPHY
Nader holds over 20 years of experience in the Defence industry where he acts as a trusted advisor to organisations across the region, helping them improve their strategy and operations, aligning security strategically with business initiatives. He has undertaken a variety of roles in government, the professional services and industry globally, including serving as an Infantry Officer. Nader has led or supported Digital and Organisational change, including cyber strategy, Artificial intelligence and Digital transformation, with his roles including Director at Deloitte Consulting, Head of Defence at Palo Alto Networks and Joint Defence Portfolio lead at Accenture. Nader actively writes-on and discusses Defence security issues within internal and external forums. He participates in forums and conferences and provides strategy and threat assessments to industry, including think pieces and presentations, ranging from Counter-Insurgency, Future Character of Conflict and the role of Artificial Intelligence.
