ABSTRACT
Over the past three decades, the scope of software deployed in Defence C4 systems has increased exponentially.
Although Defence acquisition is evolving world-wide to accommodate the increased capability and complexity that software-defined communications systems bring, significant risks still exist in their evaluation, acquisition, deployment, and support which can be mitigated through a focus on standardisation and interoperability.
In this presentation, Etherstack Global Director of Waveforms - Anna Squires, will discuss the economic and technical role of the waveform in the acquisition, deployment, and interoperability of C4 systems. Squires will touch on industry best practices internationally, approaches to waveform specification and standardisation, and how Defence can achieve best procurement outcomes. Her presentation will conclude with a view into the future of waveforms from both supplier and acquirer perspectives.

Anna Squires, Global Director, Waveforms Division, Etherstack. Squires has over two decades’ experience supplying Waveforms to Defence programmes and to radio manufacturers internationally, including as a supplier of technology and services to the US JTRS program, NATO, the UK Ministry of Defence (via Dstl) and other Five Eyes and NATO allies.
