Dr Maria Milosavljevic is the inaugural Chief Data Integration Officer at the Department of Defence. In this role, Dr Milosavljevic is responsible for delivering the Defence Data Strategy initiatives; creating and delivering the Defence Business Integration Program which supports the Associate Secretary in his role as Capability Manager for enterprise business systems; driving cultural change around data and business capabilities; and, supporting Defence to become a more data informed organisation. Before joining Defence, Dr Milosavljevic spent 3 years at Services Australia, first as the inaugural Chief Data Officer where she was similarly responsible for establishing a new Data and Analytics Division, defining and championing the agency’s data and analytics strategy, and then also as the Chief Information Security Officer where she worked to improve cyber security practices and capabilities. Prior to the above, Dr Milosavljevic worked at AUSTRAC, NSW Government and the Australian Crime Commission where her roles focused on the creation of leading-edge data analytics/ AI technology, innovation and championing appropriate use of data across Government. Dr Milosavljevic is an Honorary Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Australian National University (ANU) and has completed a PhD in Artificial Intelligence on a prestigious scholarship from the Microsoft Research Institute. Dr Milosavljevic graduated from ANU with an Executive Master of Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG), and is a graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
