Colonel Michael King has served in the Australian Army for 24 years, and as a Signals Corps officer for 20 years. He is currently the Director of the Land Command, Control, Communications and Computing Program in Army Headquarters.
His regimental postings have included Commanding Officer of the 7th Combat Signal Regiment in Brisbane, supporting the 7th Combat Brigade, as well as a number of tactical combat and communications units in Brisbane and Townsville, and a posting to the United States. His staff officer experience includes the Defence Network Operations Centre, Office of the Chief of Staff – Army Headquarters, Headquarters Joint Operations Command, and Army’s Land Capability Division.
Operationally he has deployed with the Australian Army Training Team Iraq in 2006, and while posted to the US he deployed in 2010 to Afghanistan attached to his US unit. In 2012 he led the Afghanistan Signal Squadron as part of the Force Communications Unit. He has a Bachelor in Science, a Master of Strategic Defence Studies and a Master of Cyber Security, Strategy and Diplomacy.

Colonel Les Juckel was born on the Gold Coast and grew up in South East Queensland. His family moved to Hervey Bay in 1987 and he completed schooling at the Hervey Bay High School and the Hervey Bay Senior College. After graduating from Griffith University in Brisbane he joined the Australian Army in 1998. He graduated from the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1999 into the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. He has served in a variety of Staff, Instructional and Command appointments with most of his Regimental service in Combat Brigades. Notable appointments include being a Platoon Commander at the Army Recruit Training Centre Kapooka, Regimental Signals Officer of the 1st Armoured Regiment, Officer Commanding 104 Signal Squadron, as a Staff Officer in Army Headquarters, Liaison Officer to the US Army based at Aberdeen, Maryland and Commanding Officer of the 7th Combat Signal Regiment from 2018 to 2019.
Colonel Juckel has operational experience from four deployments to the Middle East serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East Region Headquarters in UAE. Colonel Juckel holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Griffith University, a Master of Arts in Strategy and Policy from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Systems Engineering from the University of New South Wales.
Colonel Juckel’s Honours and Awards include the Conspicuous Service Cross in the 2017 Australia Day Honours, a Chief of Defence Force Commendation and the United States Meritorious Service Medal. Colonel Juckel was posted to the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group as Director of the Land C3 Systems Program Office in Canberra in 2021 and has been Acting Assistant Secretary Land C4 Systems Branch since May 2022. He is married to Samantha who is a Commander in the Royal Australian Navy.
