Session 3.6b Certa Cito: Certa Cito Foundation update / Corps Update / LT & SIG of the Year (Open Session)

BRIG Alison Creagh, President of the Certa Cito Foundation and Representative Colonel Commandant for the Royal Australian Corps of Signals will provide an update on how the Certa Cito Foundation has been assisting the Australian Signals community notably by supporting the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, its Signals Associations, and families of serving and former serving Signals members.
The Certa Cito Foundation was established by serving and veteran members of the Corps for patriotic and charitable reasons leading up to the 75th Anniversary of the Corps in 2000. In 2025, the Royal Australian Corps of Signals will celebrate its 100th Anniversary (Certa Cito 100), a significant milestone for the Australian Signals community. The Certa Cito Foundation will again provide anniversary support for Certa Cito 100 and the broader Signals community in 2025.
LTCOL Simmone Reynolds, Deputy Head of Corps for the Royal Australian Corps of Signals will provide an overview of the Corps and its achievements in 2023. LTCOL Reynolds will also provide a broad outline of the planned activities in 2025 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary (Certa Cito 100) 100 years of ‘Signals’. These activities will commence in February 2025 and conclude at Corps Week in November 2025.

Brigadier Alison Creagh, AM, CSC is President of the Certa Cito Foundation and Representative Colonel Commandant for the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. She is also Chair of the ACT Ministerial Advisory Council for Veterans and Their Families, Trustee of the Commando Welfare Trust, a Defence Ambassador and member of the ACT Defence Industry Advisory Board, and a member of the AustCyber Canberra Node Industry Advisory Group. She chairs the Board of Governors for The Road Home - The Repat Foundation and is President of Rowing ACT. Alison is a Non-Executive Director of The Hospital Research Foundation and SME Gateway and is a strategic adviser for several companies including archTIS. Brigadier Creagh retired from the Australian Regular Army in March 2015 after a 30-year career and continues to serve in the Army Reserve. Brigadier Creagh attended the Officer Cadet School Portsea and graduated to the Royal Australian Corps of Signals in 1985. During her career she commanded the independent 145th Signal Squadron and the Defence Force School of Signals where she also held the appointment of Deputy Head of Corps. Brigadier Creagh was Director-General Public Affairs, Director-General Strategic Communications and Director-General ADF Theatre Project, Brigadier Creagh served on operations in Cambodia in support of the United Nations, as part of the International Assistance Force in East Timor, Iraq and in Afghanistan with Headquarters International Security Assistance Force (HQ ISAF). She also supported the Sydney 2000 Olympics and a number of disaster relief and border protection operations in Australia.

LTCOL Simmone Reynolds

Lieutenant Colonel Simmone Reynolds is the Commanding Officer Defence Force School of Signals, responsible for the development and implementation of initial, intermediate, and advanced training courses for signallers across the Australian Defence Force. By virtue of this position, Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds has the role of Deputy Head of Corps of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds commenced her service as a reservist, gaining squadron and training command experience while working in multinational companies in marketing, management, and strategy roles. She has worked at the tactical, operational, and strategic level through command and staff roles with a focus on change and people capability.
Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds commanded the 139th Signal Squadron (2010), supporting the introduction of the Battle Management System to the 7th Brigade. As the Regimental Signals Officer 1st Regiment Royal Australian Artillery, she supported the introduction into service of sensor to shooter digital fire missions. Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds commanded the independent 145th Signal Squadron (2016-2017), leading the growth of squadron capability to enable military police, health, and force logistics effects. She deployed on Operation ACCORDION with the Theatre Communications Group Rotation Five as the Officer Commanding of the Expeditionary Signals Squadron (2017-2018).
Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds has also held personnel focused staff appointments at Regimental, Brigade and Formation Headquarters. As Adjutant 7th Combat Signal Regiment (2013), Staff Officer Personnel, Headquarters 6th Brigade (2018), Staff Officer to Director General Career Management – Army (2020), and most recently as Recruiting Liaison Officer – Army (2021-2022).
Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, a Masters of Military and Defence Studies from the Australian National University and a Masters of Human Resource Management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
