Teradata

Martin has over 27-years of experience in the IT industry and has twice been listed in dataIQ’s “Big Data 100” as one of the most influential people in data-driven business in the United Kingdom. Before joining Teradata, Martin was the Data Warehouse Manager at a major UK Retailer and subsequently the Group Data Architect at a large conglomerate. In both roles, Martin was a Teradata customer – and having discovered that he had an affinity for both the company and the technology, he finally surrendered to the inevitable and joined Teradata in 2004.
Since joining Teradata, Martin has worked with over 250 organisations across at least six different industry verticals - from Dublin in the west to Sydney in the east - helping them to “do more with their data” and to realise increased business value. He has helped organisations to develop data and analytic strategies aligned with business objectives, designed and delivered complex technology benchmarks and PoCs, conceived legacy systems decommissioning strategies, pioneered the deployment of “big data” technologies, helped customers migrate to the Cloud on-time and on-budget - and led the development of Teradata’s AI/ML strategy. Along the way he has led 100-strong technology teams and championed the adoption of DataOps and ModelOps approaches.
Originally a physicist, Martin has a postgraduate certificate in computing and continues to study statistics. Outside of work, Martin is a husband and father to three boys, one of whom has autism and a serious learning disability. He is a cross-country glider pilot, a lousy guitarist, an occasional photographer – and a lapsed fan of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.
