The world of digital experience management is getting harder with security controls that mandate the need to use Ephemeral Curve ciphers suites to protect our data from interception. This additional level of protection makes passive and out of path analysis of digital experience harder than ever.
Ephemeral curve encryption in TLS 1.3 is the current standard that secures our traffic. Unlike previous iterations of TLS, we only use the public and private keys for authentication, with encryption keys generated dynamically on a per session basis. This means that even if you have the private key, you can not decrypt the traffic.
We can no longer correlate a 1:1 frontend transaction with a database transaction as encryption goes right through to the last tier of an application. This opaque view (which by design) means that we need to understand what normal looks like and how networks, operating systems, application servers and applications work together to service an end users request.
We will discuss innovations observability and analysis to understand what is important to collect, and where to look when things go wrong.
This tutorial will include:
- Traces
- Streaming telemetry
- Log
- Metric
- QUIC vs TCP
