Cyber is a continually contested domain in perpetual conflict, one in which any government, organisation or individual connected to the internet can be both a victim or perpetrator. In this session, you will hear from Microsoft’s Digital Threat Analysis Center and National Security Officer as they discuss their observations from this global digital battlefield, and how they are working to protect their customers and platform, through detecting, assessing and disrupting all aspects of digital threats arising from nation state actors.
Cyber, unlike the other 4 domains of air, sea, land and space is a continually contested domain in perpetual conflict, one in which any government, organisation or individual connected to the internet can be both a victim or perpetrator. Moreover, in the past few years we have seen how nation states have embraced the domain of cyber to augment kinetic activity and further political objectives. This augmentation can be in its use as a weapon of destruction, espionage or influence operation.
This session will highlight how DTAC’s analysts examine and report on the activity of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) in cyberspace as well as Advanced Persistent Manipulators (APMs) conducting malign influence operations in the information space. Our team seeks to understand and analyze the full scope of digital threats by studying the nexus between cyber and influence operations. This session will further highlight how the DTAC enables defence and intelligence organisations to achieve perspective, agility, efficiency and continuity to detect, assess and disrupt digital threats.
