Details

The scope of critical technology disruption is breathtaking. Australia’s investment in digital technologies is expected to increase from $172 billion in 2023 to $261 billion in 2030, resulting in half of Australia’s businesses using critical technologies. These include AI, quantum and the internet of things. But along with this technology uptake is an expected demand for 1.3 million additional skills. For the past decade, the ACS Digital Pulse has provided a holistic overview of the tech sector, identified trends in this fast-growing sector, and highlighted the importance of what needs to happen to enable this rapid growth. It has watched the move from adopting digital channels to connect with customers to the impact AI and it being one of the fastest adopted enterprise technologies ever. This presentation will discuss, from a long-term perspective, the role of the digital technology and the key driver of growth: the technology workforce. This includes the need to revitalise Australia’s sources of tech talent. Why? In order for Australia to realise the potential economic prosperity from initiatives including the "A Future Made in Australia Act" and the "Defence Digital Strategy" while achieving the intent of the "Australian Government’s Cyber Security Strategy".
