Details
In modern defence and security operations, the increasing complexity of data and operational environments poses significant challenges for military and security personnel. This presentation explores the integration of sensor fusion technology with AI-based sensors and effectors to alleviate cognitive burdens on defence operators. Sensor fusion combines data from multiple sources—such as radar, RF, optical and acoustic sensors—creating a unified, coherent picture of the operational landscape. This approach enhances situational awareness and decision-making capabilities for C-UAS operators.
AI plays a critical role by processing vast amounts of sensor data in real-time, identifying patterns, and predicting potential threats. By automating routine analysis and providing actionable insights, AI significantly reduces the mental load on operators, allowing them to focus on strategic decision-making rather than data interpretation. The presentation will highlight case studies showcasing successful implementations of sensor fusion and AI, emphasizing improvements in response times and operational effectiveness.
Furthermore, we will discuss the design of user interfaces that prioritize intuitive interactions, minimizing cognitive strain while maximizing situational understanding. By leveraging these advanced technologies, defence forces can ensure that operators remain in control while benefiting from enhanced data synthesis and operational clarity. The presentation concludes with insights into future developments in sensor fusion and AI, outlining their potential to further transform defence operations and improve the safety and efficiency of military personnel conducting C-UAS activities.
