This panel brings together representatives from VCDF Group, Army, Navy, Air Force and Joint Capability Group to discuss the current state and future direction of Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) design within the Australian Defence Force. The discussion will address key interoperability challenges across Services, the role of integrated design in enabling joint operations, and how the C4 Design community is applying Mission Engineering to strengthen design assurance and operational alignment. Attendees will gain insight into cross-Service collaboration and the strategic importance of coherent C4 capability development.

Biography

As the Head of Fujitsu’s Global Defence Office, Kylah Limmer is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of Fujitsu’s global defence solutions. Kylah is focussed on building and nurturing, trusted strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the defence ecosystem, including government agencies, military organizations, and industry. Kylah is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation, driving the development of interoperable and future-ready defence technologies. Her goal is to expand Fujitsu’s partnerships and leverage advanced defence technologies to achieve significant operational enhancements. Additionally, with Fujitsu’s Japanese heritage, Kylah is keen to ensure continued strong links between Japan and Five Eyes (FVEY) nations to best position our Defence Forces as we counter the increasing security challenges. With more than two decades of experience as a consultant and senior executive across the enterprise technology sector, Kylah maintains highly regarded relationships with the Australian and Japanese Defence military and industry ecosystems. She has proven expertise in leading high-performing teams who drive client-centric capability outcomes through deeply trusted customer relationships. Alongside Defence relationships, Kylah is proudly a Defence industry advocate, holding several key Board positions for the Australian Defence Information and Electronic System Association (ADIESA). She has been invited to panels at several Defence conferences such as Military Communications and Information Systems (MilCIS), Defence Cyber Summit, Space 2.0 Summit, Ministerial Roundtables and Women in Information Warfare. In 2024, Kylah was recognized as a Finalist in the Defence Female Leader of the Year awards. Kylah holds a Degree in Security, Terrorism and Counter Terrorism. She loves to try new Gin and has a passion for travel. She is married with two daughters and lives in Canberra, Australia.
COL Nathan Schurmann
Director C4 Design, Data and Systems Design Branch

Biography

COL Schurmann is the Director C4 Design in VCDF Group, where he is responsible for design of the joint C4 architecture that enables integrated by design technical interoperability for the Integrated Focused Force. COL Schurmann has extensive experience in command and staff roles, and a strong background in joint and coalition interoperability.

COL Clifford White
Director Land Network Integration

Biography

COL Clifford White is the Director of the Land Network Integration Centre, responsible to Army for the technical integration and cyberworthiness of its Land Combat System. He leads efforts to ensure these capabilities are digitally integrated across the land domain and interoperable with Joint and Coalition forces. With over 30 years of experience spanning Defence, industry, and academia, COL White has played a pivotal role in shaping Army’s digital transformation. His work supports the development and validation of integrated, mission-ready land capabilities for the future force.

CAPT Kate Pisani leads the Navy’s efforts in assured command and control, driving integration and resilience across maritime C4 capabilities. As Director, she plays a key role in shaping joint interoperability and supporting mission assurance through innovative design and governance.

GPCAPT Jon Jorgensen
Director Warfighting Networks and Applications
Joint Capability Group

Biography

GPCAPT Jorgensen is Joint Capability Group’s (JCG) lead on Warfighting Networks and Applications responsible for Joint Project 9111, which will replace multiple legacy deployed networks with a single multi-level security warfighting network for the ADF. GPCAPT Jorgensen has extensive experience across Air Force and JCG.
