Details

The climate compliance landscape is rapidly changing on a global scale requiring organisations to include climate reporting in their annual reports. In Australia from January 2025 large entities will be required to prepare annual sustainability reports. This is a C-Level Issue that will be eventually pushed down to the IT professional to gather data for inclusion in the climate report. You will be involved because a significant contributor to these climate reports will be IT, and specifically EOL IT assets going to landfill as e-waste, a growing issue in Australasia and around the world. In 2022 it was 580,000 metric tonnes for Australia alone. You can spend days trying to untangle the morass of legislation and regulations, or you can come and learn what is required from an IT perspective and how you can use best practice techniques to provide the necessary data for your organisation. We will discuss: • The new legislation as it relates to climate reporting and how it affects you as an IT Manager • What are the Scope I, 2 & 3 emissions? • Why are they so important? • Greenwashing, what is it, and how to avoid it? • What exactly am I measuring, and how? • What are the best practices? • How can I start preparing for this now?
