Details
This presentation will look at the role of GNSS for timing systems, and the threats from both interference and malicious actors.
1. A brief explanation on how GPS and GNS work.
2. How reliant are we on satellite timing in 2025?
3. How easy is it to jam or spoof a GPS/GNS receiver?
4. The threat in Australia compared to other parts of the world.
5. Strategies to protect systems - from standalone oscillators to physically diverse receivers, and everything in between.
6. What are key manufacturers doing to help? (this section is intended to be non-commercial but will make mention of some specific manufacturer solutions).
7. Video update and from the international JammerTest 2025 manufacturer testing (September).
This presentation will be an update to the MilCIS 2024 session, with a focus on new developments and the latest threats.
The 2025 presentation will again cover the latest from JammerTest, which occurs a couple of months before MilCIS. Updates from and reports from Meinberg and GPS Patron, will be included in Paul's presentation.

Biography
Paul Dengate is the Managing Director of iTkey, part of the OnAir Solutions Group.
Based in Sydney, Paul holds a Master of IT Management from CSU, and has been running distribution & systems integration business since 2000.
Working with Meinberg as the exclusive importer in Australia & NZ since 2010, Paul has a depth of experience with GPS and timing systems.
More broadly, Paul is an expert in general information & technology systems across a wide range of industries.
Paul runs training courses in timing products and also provides consultation services for large enterprise and government.
Having participated in factory training for the products he works with, Paul brings practical experience and real-world knowledge to his presentations.
