Air Marshal Glen Braz joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1987 and is currently the Chief of Joint Capabilities, where he leads space and cyber domains, Defence logistics and National Support functions. A pilot by background, he graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science (Physics) and completed pilot training in 1991.

He began his operational career flying the F‑111C with No. 1 Squadron at RAAF Base Amberley, later qualifying as a Flying Instructor on the PC‑9 and Macchi. Returning to No. 1 Squadron and graduating as a Fighter Combat Instructor, he served as Weapons and Reconnaissance Flight Commander and deployed to the Combined Air Operations Centre in support of Middle East operations.

Air Marshal Braz has held key command and capability roles, including Commanding Officer No. 1 Squadron, where he led the introduction of the Super Hornet into Australian service, and leadership of the EA‑18G Growler capability transition. In 2015, he deployed as Commander Australian Air Task Group – Middle East Region, earning the Distinguished Service Medal, and later commanded No. 82 Wing.

His senior appointments include Deputy Director Air-Land Integration; Air Staff Officer Plans and Operations at the Australian Embassy in Washington D.C; Commander Air Force Training Group, where he oversaw major training reforms including the introduction of the PC‑21 and establishment of Air and Ground Academies; Director General Military Strategic Commitments; and as the senior ranking Australian Defence Force Officer at the Australian Signals Directorate. He subsequently served as Deputy Chief of Air Force and Air Commander Australia.

Air Marshal Braz holds a Bachelor of Science, Advanced Diploma of Aviation, and a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies. He is a Vincent Fairfax Fellow, completed the Australian and Command staff college in 2006, and later completed the Senior Managers Program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Advanced Management Program.

The Air Marshal is married to Charnie and has two wonderful daughters.

Brigadier Les Juckel joined the Australian Army in 1998 graduating from the Royal Military College in 1999 into the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. He has served in a variety of Staff, Instructional and Command appointments with most of his Regimental service in Combat Brigades. Notable appointments include being a Staff Officer in Army Headquarters Land Capability Division from 2012 to 2015, Liaison Officer to the US Army based at Aberdeen, Maryland from 2016-2017 and Commanding Officer of the 7th Combat Signal Regiment from 2018 to 2019.

As a Senior Officer, Brigadier Juckel was Director Land C3 Systems Program Office in the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group from January 2021 to May 2022. He was acting Assistant Secretary of Land C4 Systems Branch in the Capvability Acquisition and Sustainment Group from May 2022 to December 2023. He was Director Land Network Integration Army from December 2023 to December 2024.

Brigadier Juckel has operational experience from four deployments to the Middle East. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Griffith University, a Master of Arts in Strategy and Policy from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Systems Engineering from the University of New South Wales.

Brigadier Juckel’s Honours and Awards include the Conspicuous Service Cross in the 2017 Australia Day Honours, a Chief of Defence Force Commendation and the United States Meritorious Service Medal.

Brigadier Juckel assumed the appointment of Director General Joint C4 in Joint Capabilities Group in December 2024.

Brigadier Juckel is married to Samantha who is a Captain in the Royal Australian Navy.

Major General Novak graduated from the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1995 to the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. Early in his career he filled a range of regimental and staff appointments with highlights including Squadron Commander and Operations Officer at the 3rd Combat Signal Regiment, Staff Officer Grade 1 for battlefield digitisation at Army Headquarters, and Commanding Officer of the 1st Combat Signal Regiment.

Post his Regimental command, Major General Novak spent two years seconded to the Office of National Intelligence as a strategic analyst. In this role, he prepared reports covering a range of issues relevant to Australia’s strategic security interests for the Prime Minister, other Government Ministers, and senior Departmental officials. After this secondment, Major General Novak returned to Army Headquarters as Military Assistant to the Chief of Army.

Major General Novak was promoted to Colonel in December 2016 and posted to the United States as the Australian Liaison Officer to United States Strategic Command. Representing Australia’s Defence interests with United States Strategic Command, Major General Novak gained unique insights on strategic deterrence, space as an operational domain, and integrated global operations. He was awarded a United States Legion of Merit for his contributions to these important components of the Australia – United States military to military relationship.

Upon return to Australia in 2019, Major General Novak served as Chief of Staff to the Chief of the Defence Force. This appointment remains a career highlight for Major General Novak as he worked closely with Defence’s most senior leaders and was constantly exposed to the highest level workings of the Department. He was promoted to Brigadier in January 2020 and appointed Commander Defence Strategic Communications in the Chief Information Officer Group, responsible for delivering strategic communications to deployed ADF elements and Defence establishments domestically, regionally and globally.

In December 2021, Major General Novak was appointed Commander of the Australian Army’s 6th Brigade where he led some of Defence’s most capable intelligence, surveillance, electronic warfare, cyber, battlespace control, and force-level engineering units. He was promoted to Major General in October 2023 and assumed his current appointment as Commander Defence Space Command in December 2023.

Operationally, Major General Novak has deployed to Bougainville, Afghanistan, the broader Middle East Area of Operations, and twice to East Timor. Through these deployments, he has served regionally and globally in coalition settings, commanded deployed forces at sub- unit and unit level, and experienced contingency operations as well as scheduled force rotations.

Major General Novak holds a Masters of Science in Information Technology and a Masters of Arts in Strategy and Policy. He held the appointment of Head of Corps for Army’s Royal Australian Corps of Signals from January 2020 to December 2023 and was awarded Member of the Order of Australia in 2023 Australia Day Honours for exceptional service in ADF command and liaison appointments.

Major General Watson enlisted in the Australian Regular Army in 1992 as an Electronic Warfare Operator. In 1996, he was appointed to the Royal Military College, Duntroon, and following graduation, he returned to the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.

Throughout his career, Major General Watson has been fortunate to serve in a range of appointments. He has served in the 1st Signal Regiment, 7th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare), Defence Force School of Signals and the 2nd Commando Regiment. Additionally, he has held a series of staff appointments at Division, Command and Service levels.

As a senior officer, he has served as Director Joint Cyber, Director General Joint Information Warfare. His most recent appointments include Deputy of Operations, United States Cyber Command - the first non-United States officer. Currently, he is the Commander of ADF Cyber Command.

Major General Watson has deployed multiple times to East Timor and Afghanistan. His last deployment in 2013/14 was as the CJ3 of the International Security Assistance Force, Special Operations Forces. He holds postgraduate degrees in Information Technology and Military Studies and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Major General Warren Gould is currently Head of Cyber Operations and Strategic J6 (HCO), responsible for all Defence enterprise and deployed cyberspace operations.

A career Signals Officer, he has commanded Signals units at Combat Brigade and Division level, including on operations in East Timor, Sumatra, Middle-East and Afghanistan.

Major General Gould is a specialist in capability procurement and management, with experience in land, joint and coalition integration outcomes.

He was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (Military Division) in 2023 for his exceptional service to the Australian Defence Force's command and control framework.

Tim Spiteri PSM is the Defence Chief Information Security Officer and is responsible for leading and overseeing Defence’s cyber security, ensuring the protection of Defence information, systems and networks from cyber threats. This includes setting security policies and standards, managing cyber risk, monitoring and responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with government and Defence security requirements.

Previously as an Assistant Director-General within the Cyber Threat Intelligence Division of the Australian Signals Directorate, he was responsible for functions such as Cyber Hunt, Adversary Emulation, Cyber Threat Intelligence Sharing, National Threat Blocking and Domain Takedown Initiatives, Sensor Operations, and Malware Reverse Engineering.

Mr Spiteri has extensive experience in cyber security, foreign policy, diplomacy and national security, with a policy focus on critical and emerging technologies impact on national resilience.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mr Spiteri was the inaugural Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the Australian Federal Police (AFP). During his tenure he played a key role in shaping and executing the AFP's first enterprise cybersecurity strategy, overseeing operations, and enhancing the organisation's cyber resilience and information security governance.

Mr Spiteri has served overseas as a senior diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). His most recent DFAT posting was in Washington DC as the Counsellor Political responsible for Critical and Emerging Technologies, Cyber and Space. Mr Spiteri also served on earlier postings to rebuild Australia’s diplomatic and security presence in Afghanistan, whilst integrated into the Australian military task force TF633. Furthermore, Mr Spiteri was the diplomatic exchange officer to the UK Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) in direct support of the London 2012 Olympics, and ASEAN.

Throughout his military and civilian career Mr Spiteri has worked across all three of ASD’s core functions, foreign signals intelligence, offensive cyber and cyber security and led critical technology uplift programs in East Asia, Sub-Saharan and East Africa, Middle East, and the Pacific.

In 2013, Mr Spiteri was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding public service in support of Australia’s diplomatic and military efforts in support of the ADF in Afghanistan.

Mr Spiteri began his career in the Royal Australian Air Force later in the Royal Australian Navy. He holds a Master of Science from the University of New South Wales, and is an alumni of the University of Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Program in the United Kingdom.
