General Symposium and Program Questions

Where will the Symposium Sessions be held?

All face-to-face symposium sessions will be held at the Hotel Realm Canberra.

Virtual attendees will be able to access presentations via the symposium online portal, with log-in details and information to be provided prior to the symposium.

How much will the Symposium Cost?

What is the dress code for the Symposium?

Smart casual attire. 

What is the climate in Canberra in August?

Winter in Canberra is cold with average temperatures between 1 - 12°C (33.8 - 53.6°F), dropping below 0°C at night. Given the city's average elevation of 570m (1870 feet), frosts are common in winter and UV radiation can be high.

How should I dress for winter in Canberra?

In winter the mornings and evenings are brisk so make sure to pack a thick, warm jacket. Take an umbrella and wear layers that can be worn as needed.

How do I register for the Symposium?

Registrations will be via the Registration page on the website.

What is included in my registration fee?

Face-to-Face registrations inclusions:

  • attendance at all symposium sessions (13 & 14 August 2024).
  • morning/afternoon teas and lunches as per the program.
  • free invitation to the PGCS 11th birthday party.
  • the opportunity to network with your friends and colleagues.
  • access to the trade exhibition.
  • name badge and delegate listing.
  • certificate of attendance.

Virtual registrations inclusions:

  • virtual attendance to all symposium sessions (13 & 14 August 2024).

Government/Defence rates apply to delegates with a valid government or defence email address. Please register with your defence or government email at time of registration.

Academic rates apply to full time members (staff) of a recognised tertiary educational institution (universities). Please provide your University ID number upon registration.

Speaker rates apply to people selected to present a paper during the symposium. Speakers are required to register for the symposium.

When does standard registration end?

Standard registration fees are available until Wednesday 10 July 2024.

What is the cut-off date to register online for the symposium?

Online registrations are available until 5.00pm AEST Friday 9 August 2024.

*Registrations will be available onsite after this date at the late registration prices. 

Who should I contact to arrange accommodation?

Information relating to accommodation can be found on the Accommodation page on the website. 

I need to cancel - Is there a cancellation policy?

Delegates who find themselves unable to attend the symposium, workshop or masterclass after submitting a registration form are most welcome to nominate a substitute. In the case of a cancellation, delegates must inform Consec - Conference and Event Management in writing of their inability to attend. A refund of the registration fee, less a cancellation fee of $155.00 including GST will be made on or before Tuesday, 8 July 2024. No refunds will be made to anything after Tuesday, 8 July 2024. 

All refunds are made after the symposium. Any changes made to a registration within seven (7) days of the symposium will incur a $40.00 (inc GST) administrative fee.

Will my details be published in the delegate list?

In registering for this symposium, relevant details will be incorporated into a delegate list for the benefit of all delegates (name and organisation, state/country only - in accordance with the Australian National Privacy Act) and may be made available to parties directly related to the symposium including Consec - Conference and Event Management, PGCS, the symposium organising committee and venues (for the purposes of meeting options), key partners (subject to strict conditions) and parties associated with related symposium's. 

If you DO NOT wish for your details to be published in the delegate list, please select on your registration, I do not want my name to appear on the delegate list. This is listed under the Contact Details, Primary Address, Privacy on the first page of the registration form.

What security is available for online payments?

PCI Compliance - Security of the Cardholders Account Data

Consec's online payment system is PCI (payment card industry) version 3 level 1 compliant - this is the highest standard possible.

Within this certification, our payment system is required to:

  • Perform yearly onsite audits by a PCI DSS QSA.
  • Perform external penetration tests of our sites once a year.
  • Perform internal/external vulnerability tests once a quarter.
  • Program guard against the top ten internet vulnerabilities called OWASP top 10.
  • Deploy a Web Application Firewall which inspects every packet (data intrusion, SQL injection, Request Site Forgery XSS..)
  • Deploy File Integrity Monitors.
  • Safe Log Files and guard log files against tampering.
  • Double encrypt sensitive data once with Rijndael 128bit and a second time RSA 2048 bit key length.
  • Follow separation of keys.
  • Lock keys in an unreachable vault.
  • Recycle passwords every 90 days.
  • Perform Background checks for new employees with the Federal Crime Authority.
  • Employ Development Lifecycle Processes and Procedures.
  • Onboard/Off board employees.
  • Minimize access to sensitive systems.

Attendees are advised that photographs may be taken during the conference and reproduced for promotional purposes.

Liability Waiver

In the event of industrial disruptions, the Project and Program Management Symposium and the symposium organisers accept no responsibility. In the event of the venue becoming unusable or other circumstances or the need to cancel the symposium, there can be no liability on PGCS or the organisers.

Do you have specific needs?

We endeavour to ensure delegates attending the symposium with specific needs are catered for. Should you require particular assistance, please make a note on your registration form or contact Consec - Conference and Event Management via email pgcs@consec.com.au.

Do I need personal insurance?

Delegates will be regarded in every aspect as carrying their own risk for loss or injury to persons or property, including baggage during the symposium. We strongly recommend that at the time of booking your travel and tours, you take out a travel insurance policy of your choice.

The policy should include the loss of deposit through cancellation, medical insurance, loss or damage to personal property, financial loss incurred through disruptions to accommodation or travel arrangements. The organisers are in no way responsible for any claims concerning insurance.

Do I need to wear a name badge?

Your name badge is your entry to symposium sessions and exhibition. If you misplace your name badge, please go to the registration desk and ask for a replacement.

No smoking policy

The Hotel Realm Canberra is a 100% non-smoking property.

What does the Goods and Services Tax (GST) mean?

A goods and services tax of 10% is levied on most purchases in Australia and is included in the purchase price of the goods or services. You may be eligible for a refund of the GST on goods purchased in Australia. For more information visit Home Affairs
