The Project Governance and Controls Symposium (PGCS) is pleased to announce the award of the PGCS Research Grant 2025 to Dr Jin Xue and his research team from The University of Sydney.
The successful proposal, “Enhanced data-driven decision-making with imperfect data through AI-enabled knowledge management in major projects,” was selected following a competitive double-blind peer review process. The research will investigate how AI-enabled knowledge management can strengthen data-driven decision-making (DDDM) in environments characterised by incomplete, imperfect, and fragmented data which is a challenge consistently observed across Australia’s complex projects.
Research findings will be shared at a future PGCS Symposia held in Canberra and published on the PGCS website www.pgcs.org.au. For details of the PGCS 2026 event, click here.
Commenting on the award, Kym Henderson, Chair of PGCS, said:
“The PGCS Board was extremely impressed by the quality and relevance of the research proposals received this year. This is the largest PGCS research grant awarded to date, comprising two stages of $20,000 each.
Dr Xue and his team’s proposal was selected for its strong alignment with PGCS priorities, its practical focus on decision-making under real-world data constraints, and its potential to deliver important actionable insights for Defence, government, and industry practitioners.
PGCS sincerely thanks all applicants for their contributions, which are vital to strengthening the PGCS research program and advancing evidence-based improvement in project and program delivery.”
PGCS looks forward to supporting Dr Xue and his team and to sharing the outcomes of this important research with the broader project management and controls community.
