About the Organisation

PGCS is an organisation that has a simple aim - to facilitate improvement in Australian project delivery outcomes.

The organisation focuses on improving knowledge and skill sets across project, program and portfolio management with an ongoing emphasis on the governance and controls disciplines.

Whilst active all year round, PGCS has traditionally conducted an annual Project/Program/Portfolio Management Symposium in Canberra, with associated masterclasses conducted by international guest educators.

PGCS is supported by a wide range of professional associations, federal government departments, universities and other organisations. This has a number of positive impacts including:

  • facilitating input from a wide range of practitioners, researchers and academics, encouraging a diverse range of views, and
  • through collaboration, creating a unified professional voice to influence government and improve project delivery in Australia.

PGCS actively contributes to the bodies of knowledge in the Project Controls, and the Project, Program and Portfolio Governance fields by promoting academic and practitioner collaboration.

Key members of the organising committee are representatives on a number of the international project management standards committees and are influential in shaping the professional body of knowledge - this engagement influences PGCS and the annual symposium is a conduit for sharing updates, progress, and some of the thinking that sits behind the changes that appear in the international standards.

PGCS is not a project management professional body - it is a non-aligned facilitator that aims to bring project management practitioners and researchers together for a period where tribal allegiances are left at the door and the interchange of new and different ideas is encouraged.

The annual Project and Program Management Symposium provides a forum that brings together project management people to share knowledge and improve the governance and controls skill sets available to deliver successful project outcomes for the nation.

With a multi-strand program that is designed to provide value to senior managers, practitioners, academics, and people entering the profession PGCS is a unique opportunity to network with your peers, grow your career and contribute to the advancement of project and program capabilities in Australia.
